Benjamin Sientzoff
Startup Sorcerer
I am an entrepreneur and a developer with an academic background in software engineering and computer science. I built strong expertise within web development with technologies like TypeScript, React, NodeJs, SQL databases as well as NoSQL and Kubernetes – to mention a few.
I love prototyping and cutting-edge tech. At Papperslöst AB, I turned their prototype into a production-grade application, Klientlistan. As an advocate for Remix, I ported succesfully Klientlistan to Remix, used in production by hundreds of users.
I work as a volunteer and I am involved as an activist bacause I believe in social and climate justice. I am a board member of RSFL Umeå, a local chapter of RSFL.
My mother tongue is French, I am fluent in English and can hold a simple conversation in Swedish.

Background
2023
November
As part of my recovery to work after a burnout, I join Zymego for an internship (arbestprövning) as a full stack developer. Learning GraphQL and PostGraphile on the way.
April
Career Break During my break, I temporarily stepped away from work due to burnout. This break was necessary to prioritise my well-being and recovery. By taking this step back, I aimed to regain my physical and mental health, allowing me to return to work with renewed energy, focus, and a greater capacity to contribute effectively. It was a thoughtful decision taken to ensure that I could ultimately bring my best self back to my professional responsibilities.
March
Joined RSFL Umeå as a board member.
February
Kicked off the Sex Educated project in partnership with RSFL Umeå and the region Västerbotten.
2021
February
Start as lead full stack developer at Papperlöst AB.
2020
December
Nesta files for bankruptcy.
2018
May
Nesta speeched as one of the three most promising start-ups at Umeå Tech Arena.
Google Cloud OnBoard, Stockholm.
2017
October
Nesta is selected for Di Startup Tours.
Launching the close beta of Nesta.
June
Joining Sea Shepherd Scandinavia as a volunteer.
March
Joined the Nesta team as a cofounder and a fullstack developer.
2016
October
Start working as a fullstack developer at Thingmap (now Qui). I extended the RESTful API (backend), I improved and implemented new features to the frontend applications (web and mobile). I dealt with Node.js, AngularJS, REACT and MongoDB. I also wrote a lot of tests and fixed bugs.
May
Umeå Tech Arena.
Django workshop at Codemill.
2015
September
Master's degree, first year in Computer Science at Umeå University as an exchange student. Where I studied Aritficial Intelligence, Databases and Distributed Systems.
August
Moved to Umeå, Sweden.
Graduated from the University of Nantes in Computer Science.
April - July
Third internship within the Real Time Systems team of the IRCCyN leaded by Richard Urunuela, still about the ANR ImpRo demonstrator. This time, my task was to build a new robot with metal parts.
2014
September
Volunteering for the thirteenth edition of Scopitone, a festival about Digital art.
June - July (12 weeks)
Second internship at IRCCyN with the Real Time System team, leaded by Richard Urunuela. The purpose was adding a camera to the Lego Mindstorms NXT. The NXT is used to control the robots of the ANR ImpRo demonstrator. The camera is actually an Arduino Uno board connected to a CMUcam4 and five proximity sensors. The Arduino board manages the CMU cam and the sensors and send the data to the NXT via I2C.
2013
September
Start my bachelor degree in Computer Science at the University of Nantes, France.
Start part-time working as a cashier at a mini-market.
Volunteering for the twelfth edition of Scopitone, a festival about Digital art.
July
Graduate two-years degree in software engineering (DUT : Diplôme Universitaire de Technologie Informatique) from The University of Nantes, France.
May - June (10 weeks)
First internship at IRCCyN, within the Real Time Systems team. I was leaded by Jean-Luc Béchennec, Sébastien Faucou and Richard Urunuela. During this internship, I designed a first prototype for the demonstrator of the ANR ImpRo project. The demonstrator is a table where two robots hit back and forth a ball. It is a kind of an air-hockey. Robots are built with Lego and controlled by the Lego Mindstorms NXT. Trampoline RTOS, the operating system developed by the team, allows the robot to be autonomous with Real Time features. It runs on the NXT.
